Thirteen Weeks and Counting Down

mciltopsfield

In ALS, motor neurons in the brain and spinal cord are affected. As these nerve cells deteriorate and are lost, they stop sending signals to muscles. In the absence of signals, the muscles they control atrophy, becoming weak and then nonfunctional.

The planning stage is kicking into high gear. We have started to book the first few nights of lodging so things are starting to feel real! We are all busy training, both on the bikes outside, sometime on the trainer inside, others are hiking, skiing and overall just keeping fit! We have a few offers for home cooked meals along the way and the route is being tweaked slightly here and there! We are looking for ways to continue to publicize our event so that we can meet the goals of increasing awareness and raising funds! We currently have raised almost $9000! Thank you so much to everyone who has donated and who is following our journey. Feel free to drop us a note of encouragement. Your support is very much appreciated especially as the anxiety increases as the reality of the ride sinks in!
