ALS affects persons of all races and ethnicities, and men are slightly more likely to develop ALS than women.
How do you train to ride 1000 miles? That is a question that seems to keep coming up for those of us who are planning to ride the entire route from Oxford to Boxford who are new to this kind of distance. My friend Barb, road 10 Century rides every day for 10 days when she turned 60. I guess she could be our example! For me, I have been trying to balance long rides with short rides with rides that include lots of hills. I have close to 1900 miles on the road since January and I must admit, I am getting to the point of not wanting to train anymore. Dave and I have both lamented that we just want to start the ride now!!! Well, 10 days to go.
We are so very grateful for everyone who has supported us so far. Our fundraising has surpassed $43,000 and we are so very hopeful that we will not only make our goal of $50K but even surpass it.
So many people are working behind the seems every day to make this adventure successful! Dave has been our fearless and tireless leader and we are so very grateful for all he is doing.
Some exciting things have happened in the last several days. Our ride T shirts have arrived. A huge thank you to Foster and Motley and Todd Lott from https://color-nine.com/. The shirts are so comfortable and will certainly help us to start conversations about what we are all about.
Through the help of a family contact, we will be interviewed by Levan Reid of WBZ TV Morning News - a Boston station on Monday, June 5th. We don't know when the segment will be aired but we have been told we will receive a link so we can share it widely.
We have gotten a banner, announcing our ride that we will have at the start and finish and perhaps some key points along the way.
We are continuing to finalize our packing lists and making last minute anxiety induce purchases to make sure we have everything that we need.
Our dear friends Claudia and Paul will be providing us a home cooked meal in North Hampton and a few other friends have offered the same or to foot the bill of us dining out.
Doug has reminded us that in addition to riding the miles, he wants to ensure we also have fun along the way!
Here's to hitting the road soon and having some fun! Thanks for checking in on us.

Just a few of our provisions. One of my favorite things about riding
so many miles is guilt free eating, especially chocolate and ice cream.
I hear Dave is partial to donuts!
